Ukraine’s Anti-Corruption Agency Lacks Data on Crypto Declarations
Ukraine's National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) has admitted it does not track cryptocurrency declarations or maintain statistics on false disclosures involving digital assets. The agency confirmed cryptocurrencies should be reported under intangible assets in financial declarations, but no separate accounting exists for such filings.
Inspections have uncovered billions of hryvnias in declaration violations, yet crypto-specific discrepancies remain unquantified. As of September 22, the NAPC reviewed 647 declarations from 569 individuals, with 322 still under examination. The process revealed inaccurate information totaling ₴2.6 billion, though the crypto component of these violations remains undefined.
The disclosure highlights growing pains in regulatory oversight as digital assets permeate traditional financial systems. Without dedicated tracking mechanisms, cryptocurrency transparency suffers—a gap that could undermine anti-corruption efforts in emerging markets.
